IBOM AIRLINE TO COMMENCE PROVEN FLIGHTS
The Commissioner for Special Duties and Aviation Development, Mr. Akan Okon, says all is now set for the commencement of the proven or demonstration flights by the Ibom Airline having taken delivery of its third aircraft to meet the three aircraft statutory requirement of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority for commercial airline operation.
Mr. Okon was speaking in Uyo while he was hosted on an AKBC Radio programme “UPDATE AKWA IBOM”.
The Commissioner noted that the proven flights which will be carried out on the proposed routes of the airline under the supervision of the NCAA will be preceded by the Airline’s base inspection.
He said after the inspection of the Uyo, Abuja and Lagos bases of the Ibom Airline as well as proven flights are completed, the Airline will be certified with an Air Operation certificate, which will authorize it to commence commercial operation.
Mr. Okon emphasized that against insinuations and rumours that employment into the Ibom Airline may have been compromised by undue interferences, the Commissioner said a sector such as aviation is very critical as such any attempt to manipulate the recruitment of its man power could have disastrous consequences, this he noted informed proper advertisements of available vacancies on the company’s website and thorough scrutiny of the human resources to ensure that only the best and most qualified were taken.
The Commissioner said the Ibom Airline which was birthed by the ingenuity of the Emmanuel administration is part of the critical sectors where government takes the lead to give the private sector a direction.
The Company according to him will generate over 400 direct and indirect employment opportunities with uncountable positive spiral effects.
He further stressed that several nations of the world despite the availability, human and material resources, have still not made reasonable progress as such Akwa Ibom people need to be continually grateful to God for sending them a leader with passion, vision, focus and a sense of direction, adding that the Ibom Airline which is a Limited Liability Company will strictly be operated and governed by the code of corporate governance of such companies.
The Commissioner pointed out that Governor Udom Emmanuel has not just rejuvenated and inspired the mentality of the Akwa Ibom person through the DAKKADA philosophy, but gone ahead to create an enabling environment as well as opportunities for the inspiration to be properly utilized.
Mr. Okon said the Governor has not just led the state out of recession, but placed it on the path of prosperity.
On the 21 Storey Smart Building being constructed at the Central business district Uyo, Mr. Okon emphasized that the building which is currently on its 19thfloor was imperative to ensure that the multinationals and other organizations, have suitable, convenient and befitting office for their operations hence giving the State the advantage of inviting oil exploration companies drilling in its shores to take offices and create operational bases in its domain.
He also said that the government through the structure which he said is being constructed in partnership with the Private sector is also creating job opportunities for Akwa Ibom People.
