Bad news for Liverpool as key player misses champion league Final
Liverpool are already missing a handful of players for the Champions League final and now another key player is set to lose the race to be fit.
Hot on the heels of the news that Liverpool will be missing Joe Gomez for the Champions League final there is increasing worry that another star may miss the trip to Kiev. It is looking increasingly unlikely that Emre Can will win the race to be fit for the European Cup final on Saturday May 26th.
The German midfielder has been missing since the middle of March when he injured his back against Watford in the Premier League. He missed all of the Champions League quarter-final and semi-final ties and is looking like he will fall short of the final also.
The on-going uncertainty over Emre Can’s future at Anfield has led many fans to shrug their shoulders at the latest news. He has refused to sign a new contract at the club and will likely leave on a free transfer on July 1st.
There is a feeling amongst the fanbase that if he doesn’t want to be part of our future then he shouldn’t get to be a part of any potential glory against Real Madrid in Kiev. However I imagine Jurgen Klopp sees the situation very differently.
Until his injury he was the most selected midfielder this season for Klopp, playing 35 games and scoring four goals with four assists. Options are down to bare bones with Alex Oxlade-Champberlain ruled out until next season. Klopp will still be hoping that Emre Can will have some rapid improvement over the next two weeks.
Before the Champions League final there is a crucial Premier League match against Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday. There will be many crossed fingers and toes in the Kop that there are no more injuries before Liverpool head to Kiev for the Champions League final.
